2HA Were commissioned by our longstanding client to redevelop and replace an existing traditional brick detached house sited on a dark, sloping, overgrown ‘managed woodland’ site. 2HA designed and constructed a modernist sustainable residence to meet the brief. We liaised with local authorities and developed the design to respond and respect the site constraints whilst meeting the client’s aspirations for a light, flexible modern expansive home.
The house is supplied by natural spring water, powered by ground source heat pumps and PV solar panels, utilises underfloor heating, uses sustainable non-mains drainage systems, wild flower sedum green roofs and back up generators with battery and propane gas reserves to make the building independently fully sustainable. The surrounding landscaping is managed by forestry consultants under the guidance of the client in a natural setting.
Site Services, the main contractor, developed relationships with local suppliers and sub-contractors to manage construction at the remote location with continual detailed design development and management from 2HA and the client maintaining the exemplary attention to detail reflected in the clean lines and high quality finishes in the completed house.
