Whilst Director of a former practice Brenden acted as Project Architect on Phase 1 of the training academy providing 3,000 sq m of classroom-based teaching space and administrative offices, a 2,200 sq m double height simulator hall which houses four flight simulators and two cabin crew door trainers, along with a 600 sq m training workshop for engineering apprentices.
The classroom wing uses natural ventilation and thermal mass to reduce heating and cooling demand. The Academy building was accredited with a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. Brenden worked alongside the WT Partnership project management team and in collaboration with the client representatives to deliver the building.
